Nothing compares to treating yourself to a day dedicated to self-care . Whether it’s the refreshing scent of essential oils or the comforting touch of a moisturizing lotion after a rejuvenating bath or shower, the experience is truly amazing. Yet, scheduling a day at the spa or even leaving the house isn’t always feasible. In those moments, staying at home can be the ideal choice, and there’s nothing quite like the relaxation that comes from being in your own space. Here are a few suggestions and steps to help you set the mood for a spa day in your own home.

- Create a soothing atmosphere. To achieve a calming environment, you might light a candle, add essential oils in a diffuser, or combine the two methods. I often incorporate lemon, eucalyptus, or lavender essential oil drops into my diffuser to aid in relaxation. The scent itself is wonderful for soothing an anxious mind. Following that, play some tranquil spa sounds or music. I enjoy the sounds of spas or music that mimics massage therapy during my at-home spa days. It’s important to note that certain essential oils can be harmful to pets. Ensure you verify the safety of these oils for your pets and make any necessary adjustments. Consulting with your pet’s veterinarian is a wise move. An alternative choice for pet-friendly aromatherapy is the Hotel Collection diffuser oils. These scents are made without toxic chemicals, making them safe for both children and pets.

2. Hydrate. Brew a cup of warm tea or rehydrate by sipping on water infused with lemon, cucumber, and mint. There is something about this trio that truly refreshes and quenches my thirst and I love the minty freshness after every sip. When it comes to tea, I suggest opting for chamomile, peppermint, or lavender. These teas are free from caffeine, which can help reduce feelings of anxiety and stress.

3. Prepare a warm bath or shower. Add 2 cups of Epsom salt to the bathwater. Soak in the tub for 20-30 minutes. Epsom salt is great for soothing sore muscles. If you cannot use a bathtub, you can take a warm shower. Use an exfoliating body scrub to remove dead skin cells and oils. This will help your skin feel smoother and brighter. My current favorite is the Moroccan Rose exfoliating scrub by Tree Hut. I love the scent and gentle exfoliation. If you cannot use exfoliating scrubs, you can use a gentle loofah or bath sponge to help scrub and wash away impurities.

4. Use facial care products. To clean your pores deeply, apply a face mask. Try to choose a mask that works for you and isn’t too harsh on your skin type. I like to use this Aztec secret clay mask, which is beneficial for all skin types. I found it at Target although you can also find it on Amazon as well as other stores. It is made from natural calcium bentonite clay. It can be left on for five to ten minutes It will leave your skin feeling deeply cleansed and renewed after washing it off. Apply undereye patches to feel more hydrated and supple under your eyes. I enjoy using the Pixie under eye patches because they soothe and hydrate the skin beneath my eyes.

5. Apply moisture. Lastly, cover the entire body with a moisturizing body moisturizer. Use a facial moisturizer as well. Remember to also moisturize your feet, ankles, knees, and elbows. The Lubriderm daily moisture lotion is what I prefer to use. It is odorless, non-greasy, and extremely moisturizing for the skin. Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit body lotion offers creamy moisture and a subtle, fresh citrus aroma, making it a great option for those who want a mildly scented moisturizer. For my face, I’m currently obsessed with Summer Fridays jet lag hydrating face mask . It feels incredibly rich on the skin because of its thick and creamy consistency. To complete the steps, apply a lip mask to your lips last. The Laneige lip sleeping mask lip sleeping mask is incredibly hydrating, which is why I recommend it.
I hope this list will assist you in planning a fantastic at-home spa day. I appreciate you reading, and keep in mind that self-care is the best kind of care!
